Another looooong plane ride. Today we are leaving the Philipines. We left the house early and checked in early. There were so many guards and inspectors that checked our bags, searched us, made us remove our shoes for scanning at the x-ray machine and so on and so forth. We made some last-minute purchases (chocolates and perfumes and dried mangoes) at the Duty-Free Shops, then went off to the lounge waiting to board. First thing I did when we boarded (Seats 41D, E, and F for my mum, dad and me) was to put on the headset to listen to the comedy channel. I looked out of the window as we left the Philippines behind at take-off. I felt sad. Later, the stewardesses served dinner. I didn’t have any dinner (we ate at a restaurant before departure with my aunts and uncles who saw us off and I was full.) I watched the movies a bit then went to sleep at 4:00 am Australia time.
The next morning I woke up at about 7:00 am. My parents were having breakfast. The pilot announced we were going to land. I listened to the radio more to distract me from the butterflies in my tummy and wanting to throw up. After a few minutes of pure agony, we landed. We entered the airport and went through the immigration desk, picked up our luggage and went through the baggage inspection. The Australian officers in Quarantine were checking for food and other items that travelers are not allowed to bring in to Australia. One lady officer invited me over to the monitor to look at our stuff while they were passing the scanner. Cool! Then we caught a cab home. Hello again!
